Description
The Canadian Airline Operations course is designed to prepare aspiring airline transport pilots for the SAMRA (Airline Transport Pilot – Meteorology) and SARON (Airline Transport Pilot – Air Law, Navigation, and General Knowledge) written examinations, which are required by Transport Canada for the Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
This course provides focused and thorough instruction across the major knowledge areas that are examined on the ATPL exams, ensuring that candidates are equipped with both the theoretical understanding and applied knowledge required to meet airline-level standards.
Topics covered in this course include:
- Minimum Equipment List (MEL): Learn how to interpret and apply MELs in operational planning. This includes understanding what equipment is required for dispatch and how to legally manage inoperative systems while ensuring continued safe operation of the aircraft.
- Performance Charts: Deepen your ability to read and use complex performance charts, including takeoff and landing distances, cruise performance, and aircraft limitations. These skills are essential for efficient flight planning and operational decision-making.
- High Altitude Operations: Study the unique physiological, meteorological, and aircraft performance challenges associated with high-altitude flight. Learn about pressurization systems, hypoxia, critical mach number, and engine performance considerations.
- Weather & Flight Planning: Gain an advanced understanding of aviation meteorology with a focus on interpreting weather charts, NOTAMs, SIGMETs, and METARs/TAFs relevant to high-level commercial operations. Learn how to plan flights across various regions and airspace structures, integrating weather impacts, alternate planning, and fuel strategies.
- SAMRA & SARON Preparation: The course offers detailed breakdowns of the exam format, question types, and key content areas. Practice quizzes and sample exams help learners identify gaps in understanding and track their readiness over time.
By the end of the course, participants will have a solid foundation not only to succeed on the SAMRA and SARON exams, but also to operate safely and effectively in airline environments.
